Boyane Zelechowski (AKA “Boyane”) is Seoul-based graffiti artist who has proven himself a significant influence on Korea’s international graffiti scene. Originally from France, Boyane brought a fresh perspective to the Korean streets when he moved to Seoul with his Korean wife over a decade ago, captivating audiences with his vibrant illustrations and a skillful interplay of contrasting colors. In some of my recent paintings part of the composition is located on the sides of the stretcher. Often these are the brightest fragments, done using reflexive paint, that cast light on the surface around the painting and seem to vibrate on the periphery of our vision, as if some memory or emotion hidden in the subconscious but affecting us and oursurroundings.”

Rick Prol was born and raised in New York City where he currently lives and works. He attended Cooper Union College in 1980 and began showing his work publicly in 1982, during the then burgeoning East Village art scene. As art artic Eleanor Heartney writes, “The East Village art scene of the 80`s thrived on the romance of slumming in an era of widespread economic prosperity. Rick Prol was an icon of that era, known for his cartoonish tableaux of mayhem, murder and suicide set in a rat-infested world somewhere east of First Avenue” (Art in America, 1993)
Jay Gittens, known to the art world as The Love Child, is a self taught painter who launched into the scene selling his work on the busy streets of Soho. After immigrating to New York from his birthplace of Grenada, The Love Child found his voice in the colorful and vivid paintings that would go on to become his charismatic style. Inspired by his youth living in an island country, he brings the rich imagery and colors he was surrounded with growing up to his artwork. His exuberant style can be described as expressive, whimsical and playful. The Love Child makes use of warm vivid colors in his paintings which he believes affect the positive and pleasurable senses of his audience. Not wanting to be constrained by a singular mode, his work passes between narrative and more abstract imagery in a harmonious way. Both hold the presence and power of a singular artist with a unique sense of individuality.
James Romberger’s drawings are in the collections of the Metropolitan, Brooklyn, Newark, Philadelphia and Parrish Museums, Harvard and the Library of Congress. His art has been exhibited at Grace Borgenicht, PPOW, Gracie Mansion and many other galleries in New York, most recently at James Fuentes and the Seoul Museum of Art. Artime Joe, also known as Yoo In-Jun, is one of Korea’s most important and influential graffiti artists. Since founding JNJ CREW in 2001, he has been instrumental in chronicling the evolution of Korean street art, from its humble beginnings in the early 2000s when there was no graffiti to commanding stages in hip-hop and B-boy performances. Known for his imaginative reinterpretations of international cultural icons like Michael Jordan, Bugs Bunny, and Dragon Ball characters, he introduced “The Cappers” (Cap Man), a distinctive character that has become his most recognizable creation. Beyond national borders, Artime Joe joined the international graffiti crew Stick Up Kids in 2010 and has since travelled to over 20 countries for exhibitions and mural projects across Europe, Asia, and North America. As one of Korea’s most respected Korean graffiti artists, Artime Joe continues to leave an indelible mark on the global graffiti landscape.

Although Lee Seok-Kyu (aka WEZT) is certainly a graffiti artist, he prefers to think of himself as a “Wall Explorer,” a man of global taste. After “exploring walls” (ahem, painting) in over 30 countries and collaborating with world famous megastars and brands such as BLACKPINK, J-Hope (of BTS), KIA Motors, Samsung, and KG Mobility Tivoli, we say he’s earned the title.
And at the same time, nobody can say he sold out. Inspired by contemporary internet memes and comic-book characters, WEZT’s distinct bubble letters harken back to the old-school graffiti greats, which he harnesses enthusiastically. Due to the raw nature of his work and the clear respect he pays to the past, he is a rare breed of graffiti artist that is well-respected by casual pedestrians and graffiti aficionados alike, especially in his native city of Seoul

Originally constructed using bicycle paint on low-cost materials such as masonite squares, ceramic fragments, and wood, the evolution of TingaTinga has come a long way. Skumbuzo “Skubalisto” Salman is a respected artist based in Cape Town, South Africa known for his impactful work addressing social justice, identity, and belonging. With a background in visual and fine arts, Salman has spent the past decade crafting a unique and engaging practice. He’s not just a painter; he’s a thoughtful voice in his community, using art as a tool for cultural awareness. Although he has painted murals in Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, Italy, and the US, Skumbuzo is particularly passionate about the future of young people on the African continent and is committed to making a lasting impact through mural projects and advocacy of the arts.

Isaac Zavale (b. 1988 – Maputo, Mozambique) is a Mozambican fine artist and street artist current living in Johannesburg, South Africa. He graduated from the Artist Proof Studio in Johannesburg in 2012 and proceeded to co-found the printmaking studio Prints on Paper (POP) and the Alphabet Zoo zine and printmaking workshops with artist partner Minenkulu Ngoyi. In 2015 he and Ngoyi were invited to be guest lecturers for 3rd-year students for alternative printmaking, zine-making and bookbinding courses at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
Zavale’s work focuses on the social and political issues in Southern Africa seen through the lens of a Mozambican immigrant. His background in mural painting and sign-writing is evident in his recent bodies of work, mostly consisting of inner-city landscapes that depict honest representations of Johannesburg street scenes, placing a spotlight on how people from all around Africa get to use the space in diverse ways, to create, to operate and to take ownership of the space.
Zavale has participated in numerous exhibitions, both locally and internationally including If Yesterday Was Tomorrow What Is Today, BODE Projects, Berlin (2020 2021); Joni Ya Milenge, Kalashnikovv Gallery, Johannesburg (2020); Alphabet Zoo, Fak’ugesi African Digital Innovation Festival, Johannesburg (2019); andGRAFIKAMA (Service Peinture) Exposition Collective, Nantes, France (2016).

Lisolomzi Pikoli (b. 1989) is a fine artist, illustrator & muralist from South Africa. His work aims to interpret the mechanics of the modern world through the lens of our inherited wisdom. He creates free-form, expressive figurative compositions which he explores through painting, graphic, installation and mural work. Lisolomzi has shown work individually and in group shows in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Berlin, London, Tokyo, Lille, Amsterdam and Rotterdam. He has also been hosted as an artist-in-residence by the National Arts Festival, Trinity Sessions, Soul City movement and the Keleketla!Library. In August 2017, he was selected as one of Mzansi’s (South Africa’s) Top 100 Young Independents.
